Our Parish Community

Our People, Our Community, Our Parish
' Love one another as I have loved you'

Welcome to our Parish of St. Thomas More, Hadfield. We are a community of Christians, a Christ Centred Community, where the word of God and the Sacraments of the Church are central. We believe that every person has worth and dignity as a person of God’s creation and this helps us to follow the great commandment that Jesus Gave us.

Father Raj (Parish Administrator)

Parish Vision

As a parish community we are ready to pattern our lives on Jesus Christ by being a welcoming community, open to the needs of one another.

We strive to be a community that values and supports education in faith and nurtures on-going faith formation.
We treasure the times when we celebrate the Sacraments, marking the significant moments in people’s lives and enabling them to have a sense of belonging and involvement in our faith community.

We strive to embody the gospel values of Jesus Christ that lead us into service, worship and celebration.

We pray that we can be a community exploring, recognising and responding to the signs of the times.

We are a Community of Worship

We are a people of liturgy. As a People of Liturgy we know that there is a place for everyone.

The liturgy Group endeavour to organise meaningful ways to celebrate – making our celebrations on the occasions of Easter, Christmas, St. Thomas More feast and the celebrations of the sacraments of the high points in our life as a community of faith.

The Ministers of the Eucharist; Ministers of the Word Alter Servers; Music Ministers and Italian Choir enrich the liturgy with their involvement; active and enthusiastic participation.

The Communion Service Group lead us in prayer on those week days when it is not possible to have a mass.

We are a people of devotion: Each week many people gather in prayer: Our Lady’s Prayer Group, Charismatic Prayer Group (English), Charismatic Prayer Group (Italian) and the Novena Group.

We are a Community of Service

As a Parish Community we are ready to pattern our lives on Jesus Christ by being open to the needs of one another.

The Bereavement Support Group – follow and involve themselves with those who have lost someone close to them through death.

The Saint Vincent de Paul Conference - assists the poor and needy of the Parish in the local area as well as giving a hand in other ‘care’ institutions and organisations.

The Parish Support team - through monthly meetings look for ways of attending to the general pastoral needs of the parish.

Groups of volunteers – help in the parish and church centre; cleaning looking after the gardens, maintenance and bring about an atmosphere of care and love.

The Parish School – reaches out to the needs of the families and their children in the Parish through the student wellbeing co-ordinator and the God Start Program.

We are a People of Education and Faith

We are a people who nurture the education in faith of our children and new members to our community.

St Thomas More Primary School – educates the children of the parish primary school instructing them in the Catholic Faith and it’s tradition. We work in partnership with the parents nurturing a commitment to the gospel of Jesus.

The Children’s Liturgy Team – invites involvement in the Liturgy of the Word through activities and prayers that foster understanding for children.

The Baptismal preparation team – Welcomes parents asking for baptism for their children and assists them in their preparation for the sacrament.

Adult Faith Formation – The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) is a team that journeys with people who are wanting to find out about the Catholic Faith.
